While the world appears a bit chaotic right now, here at Black Pepper thankfully it’s very much business as usual. All our teams are set up to work remotely and most of us are choosing to work from home until further notice as per the latest advice.
As many tech companies will report, our live projects are all continuing as normal (albeit with a few more meetings via video link and a bit more noise on Slack). And we’re not just getting on with our work, we’re ensuring that all of our team stay working together cohesively and don’t feel isolated which can often be the case when working from home.
That said, we know it’s not the same for everyone. Our office cleaners, our daily fruit delivery, our next door shop owner (Sue) who keeps us in milk and biscuits, our local sandwich shop and coffee house are all trying to survive. Not to mention the wider UK issues such as the extreme pressure on the NHS!
We love our local suppliers and with most of our staff working from home that means we don’t need as many supplies. We don’t want them or their employees to suffer so we’ve decided we will continue to pay them for our normal level of service; but divert the supplies we would have used to our local charity, Helping Hands, so they can help those in our local community with the greatest need. It’s important that we all pull together to help one another in this time of need.
We’re wondering if there is anything further we can do to help people weather the Covid-19 storm. If you could benefit from learning about how we’re successfully remote working, or if you have any ideas as to how we could help generally, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
We’re just a small tech company but maybe we could offer a solution to a problem that you are experiencing as a result of Covid-19. We can certainly try.
In the meantime, good health to you and yours from all of us here at Black Pepper Software.
