We see mobile apps as an integral part of our marketing mix. We have worked with Black Pepper Software, not only for their leading technology but for their understanding of the events industry. We are continuing to work with Black Pepper on Cross Media as well as other shows in our portfolio as they have track record, integrity and innovation in everything that they do.
Informa is one of the world's largest publicly-owned exhibition, event and training organisations. They had already used the Companion event mobile app for one Cross Media show. The standard app features, including an exhibitor list, show schedule, speaker list and interactive floor plan are all designed to enhance the visitor experience, and proved popular with attendees.
To offer an even more interactive experience for the following year's show, Informa decided to take advantage of Companion's new polling and messaging features. Companion's administration dashboard includes the ability to display survey results in real time, meaning that polling can be used within and between sessions to gain visitor feedback. The app was easily customised with a homepage banner and a bespoke page to promote the app's sponsor to the users. Transferring event data into the app was simple, using a feed from the event's website.
The app was used by a large proportion of attendees at Cross Media, who used the interactive map to locate exhibitors and tailored their day with the comprehensive scheduling tool. They also provided feedback via the interactive polling and rating functions. Informa was able to send messages through the app to communicate key information and updates about the event and change poll questions at any time. The feed of event data from the website meant that Informa only needed to keep the information up-to-date in one place.
The analytics module within the Companion admin dashboard enabled Informa to report back to exhibitors and visitors intelligence gained about the app’s usage, visitor navigation at the event and the direct poll feedback.
